There are so many different styles of food, from Italian, to Mexican, to Indian and Chinese, that are huge favorites among families. But usually it seems that Basque food gets the short end of the stick! However, this isn’t the case in Bakersfield, California. Here in Bako, basque food makes a big impression and there are five great local basque restaurants to taste it in it’s finest. Read on for my recommendations.

Wool Growers Restaurant
620 E 19th St
Bakersfield, CA 93305

The Wool Growers Restaurant is one of the constant delights when dining out due to the excellent cuisine available. There is a vast menu to choose from to suit any palette and superior service as well. The owner of the restaurant, Jinny, is a delight to meet and the top rate staff that she has assembled is second to none. Dining in any area of the restaurant is a pleasure whether in the front room or the back. If you are in the mood for some change the Caesar Salad is a good option rather than the traditional salad. My personal preference is the Brochette of Beef but there are many great options to suit any taste. With exotic dishes such as pickled tongue and ox tails in which the meat melts from the bone this restaurant is an excellent choice. They have the best soup (salad and beans too) and fries in the areas and the tri-tip is a great dish. Remember to expect to get stuffed.
